Byron Guerrero

Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering | PhD in Fluid Mechanics | Researcher and Simulation Expert  |  CFD and FEA Specialist

With a robust academic foundation in mechanical engineering, Byron Guerrero has a 15-year career designing and simulating process and mechanical equipment for diverse industries such as oil & gas, hydropower, and food.

To improve his engineering skills, he earned a master’s in mechanical engineering with Distinction from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Throughout his career, Byron has excelled in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and applying Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) in relevant projects across sectors such as Oil & Gas, hydroelectric, and the food industry.

In 2022, Byron obtained a PhD in Fluid Mechanics, an accomplishment crowned with the prestigious University Doctoral Medal. His commitment to research is reflected in multiple published scientific articles, covering topics ranging from solid mechanics to fluid mechanics and CFD.

In acknowledgment of his relevant contributions to the field of fluid mechanics and hydraulics, Byron was honoured with the prestigious Karl Emil Hilgard Award 2024 by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), recognizing his contribution to developing an unsteady friction model for turbulent pipe flows.

Luis Carrión

Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering | Master in Thermofluids | PhD in Fluid Mechanics |  CFD and FEA Specialist

With a Master’s degree in Thermofluids from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Ph.D. in Fluid Mechanics from the University of Seville in Spain, stands out for his solid track record and contributions in the field of engineering. Currently, he serves as a professor-researcher at the Armed Forces University ESPE in Ecuador.

With 17 years of experience, Luis has developed specialized skills in crucial areas such as computational mechanics, thermal system design, ventilation and air conditioning, pumping systems, and the design of multiphase equipment for separation and mixing. His expertise has been successfully applied to various industrial challenges, both locally and internationally, with a particular focus on the Oil and Gas sector.

In the research domain, Luis has co-authored around 20 significant articles in areas such as multiphase fluids, microfluidic phenomena, and materials. These articles have been published in respected journals such as Physics of Fluids, Physical Review E, International Journal of Multiphase Flow, ACS Applied Nano Materials, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, Physical Review Fluids, Fluid Dynamics Research, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, European Journal of Mechanics-B/Fluids, and Journal of Engineering Thermophysics.

Furthermore, his ability to secure funding has enabled him to lead and co-direct research projects focused on the study and simulation of multiphase flows, the generation of biopolymer microfibers through electrospinning, and the study of drilling fluids based on biopolymers and 2D objects for applications in oil exploration and production. Luis’s experience and dedication reflect his ongoing commitment to advancement and practical application in the field of engineering.

Andrés Páliz

Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering | CFD and FEA Specialist

He is well versed in numerical simulation, especially in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA); Andrés has conducted relevant projects in separation technologies, structural integrity assessment, HVAC systems, and mixing processes.

In the separation technologies field, Andrés has optimized processes and enhanced efficiency within the Oil & Gas industry. He investigated different separation devices using CFD tools, earning him the XVIII Congress of Technology and Sciences award for his poster investigating the impact of heavy crude oil on three-phase separators. Moreover, Andrés’s proficiency in FEA analysis for solid mechanics enabled him to evaluate critical components like pressure vessels and atmospheric tanks, ensuring their safety and structural robustness.

Furthermore, Andrés has effectively leveraged numerical solvers to design and model process facilities and equipment. His experience in this area has contributed to successfully implementing projects across different industries.
